Ecology and ethology of groundhoppers (Orthoptera: Tetrigidae)
Experimental design of ecolofgical studies

Projects:

  • the impact of environmental factors (esp. abiotic conditions) on behaviour and habitat preferences of groundhoppers of genus Tetrix– the influence of temperature, air humidity and atmospheric pressure on the active choice of microhabitats by groundhoppers
    – microhabitat preferences of groundhoppers in relation to the flood
    – soil moisture preferences in – Tetrix bipunctata
    – tolerance of groundhoppers’ eggs to drying up
  • daily activity of groundhoppers of genus Tetrix
    – patterns in the movement activity of Tetrix tenuicornis
  • ecology of groundhoppers from tropical areas
    – habitat preferences and antipredation strategies of Discotettix belzebuth
  • the parasitoid Leiophora innoxia (Diptera: Tachinidae) and its influence on behaviour of groundhoppers hosts in the Central Europe

Hobbies:

Terraristc – insects and reptiles; field trips and learning every arthropods; all kinds of “do-it-yourself”.
